HAPPY MAY DAY
The NKPJ and SKOJ marked their traditional May Day gathering at Dimitrije Tucović Square in Belgrade.
Those assembled were addressed by the First Secretary of SKOJ, Comrade Miloš Karavezić. In his speech, he emphasized that young people have no real prospects within the capitalist system, nor sufficient time for rest. For this reason, he highlighted that SKOJ has launched a campaign to introduce non-working Sundays in retail chains, so that workers can have the right to rest, noting that Serbia is the only country in the region where retail employees work on Sundays.
The gathering was then addressed by the General Secretary of the NKPJ, Comrade Aleksandar Banjanac. He pointed to the difficult position of the working people in Serbia, and stressed that May Day is a day of solidarity with all those who are victims of imperialist policies. He particularly emphasized the need for solidarity with the Serbian people in Kosovo, as well as with the peoples of Palestine, Iran, Lebanon, the victims of the Kyiv regime, and especially with the people of Cuba, who are openly threatened by Donald Trump.
Our delegation laid a wreath at the monument to Dimitrije Tucović.
The gathering was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Serbia, Comrade Pavel Orencio Diaz Hernandez.
